How long have you been in business?
Peterson Directed Handwriting has been helping schools and home schools since 1908.
What is your primary product or service?
We offer a wide range of tools for guiding the development of handwriting skills. The Peterson Method is based upon a unique strategy which includes fluent movement as a goal from the beginning. Our primary product is the "We Write To Read" series of teacher handbooks, student texts and e-workbooks which offer a developmentally organized sequence of instruction for "fluent" print and cursive handwriting. Our primary service is on-line support for teachers and parents.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Helping children learn is a very rewarding career. Many people do not realize how handwriting fluency can impact development of reading and language skills and affect student success in elementary school. If your child struggles with spelling and reading in school, you can help by improving handwriting skills at home. We will show you how to help.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer fantastic free support via our web site, including live web meetings. Our web site offers more methods training than any other single source. Teachers and parents can learn techniques for instruction that will greatly improve student grades. Can your first grade child write the alphabet in a minute or less?
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location.

Maple avenue runs north and south one block to the east of main street. We are several blocks south of the YMCA building on the same side of the street.

Our Web Store accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal. We do not operate a retail facility at our location.

We service primarily the US and Canada.

The company is a privately owned corporation.
What are your hours of operation?
Office hours during the school year are 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Weekdays. During the summer we open Monday through Thursday.
